Family Vacation (Part II)

Day 4

Buffet breakfast again!

Yep, we went to sit on trishaws and it wasn't a wonderful experience because it was already freaking cold and when we rode the trishaw, there was strong wind which was worse than the cold weather. We were shivering, my jaw was literally moving up and down in full speed... But halfway through the ride, we got used to it and the shivering stopped.

Just look at my nose! I look like a clown!!

Red nose and red cheeks...

Simply love the trees.~

After the trishaw ride.~

Went to visit a palace that the Emperor stayed.

The water has frozen to ice, just like in Korea. Cold temperature...

Amazingly, this lake hasn't turned to ice yet.

Secretly went to one of these street shops to buy souvenirs. Hehe.

SHOPPING.

All 4 of us went to make the chop with our names on it. :D

He was really stable even in the cold weather...

Had lunch at a nearby restaurant!

I LAUGHED OUT LOUD WHEN I SAW THIS PICTURE. Wth were we doing? Omg.

Say hi to the first president.

All these places are actually the palaces where the Emperors stayed. They have a lot of palaces, different season different palace. Crazy eh?

THE WIND WAS REALLY STRONG.

Love this picture.~

Love this picture too!

Tour group.~

LOVIN' THIS PIX.

It weighs like a feather!

Went to watch a performance and it was really boring that I fell asleep...

Dinner at this restaurant. Worst meal ever. :(

Oops! Blur picture... Went for a swim and Jacuzzi when we got back to the hotel. It was located at the basement of the hotel.~ ^^

Went to this place to see silk products.

This lady was explaining to us on how silk was produced.

Did this in Shanghai before so it was nothing new to me. HAHA.

This statue is called Qilin!!! HAHA. My friend is called Qilin too. Was pretty shocked when I heard of it's name.

Awesome picture.~

Cute ducks! If anyone could remember, I actually saw ducks in Korea too!

Retarded me.

Private room. Cool huh.

Everyone dig in!

Heart-shaped vegetable.~ ^^

SHOOO BEAUTYPULL.

Went to see my best friend, PANDA!!

"All I do is sleep, eat and play! My life is amazing~!"

I mean seriously! Who on earth doesn't love pandas?! They are cute, cuddly, adorable, friendly, unharmful, chubby, fat, furry, soft and the description can go on and on... And they are herbivores, isn't that unique? A bear-like animal eating vegetables all day. So healthy!

Went to look at other annimals too!

Dinner at this Muslim restaurant...

Returned to our hotel and spotted a Garfield mascot! It doesn't really look like Garfield though...

The Mickey Mouse mascot looks more like Mickey Mouse. HAHA.

Day 5

Effect from my camera! Cool!

Went to a museum.~

Look at the structure of the building! Got kinda dizzy after walking up this long slope...

The items were pretty interesting.~

Bought a packet of Pocky from the vending machine to munch on. Hehe.

Noticed something funny about the museum's lift buttons. Instead of B1 or B2, it was -1 and -2...

Dinner at a Duck Restaurant!

Duck meat.~

The master of Feng Shui.~

This palace was really cool. It doesn't consist of 3 levels, it's a 1 level building. So the ceiling of the palace was really really high.~

Went to this olympic venue where they train all the participants and to keep them fit and healthy.

While waiting for the bus driver...

Dinner at another Duck Restaurant.

The day was really short so it was still early when we returned to the hotel hence we decided to go free and easy and went to the nearby shopping centres for some shopping. But to our disappointment, there was nothing worth buying...

One of the decorations outside our hotel. It is carved in ice!

Went for gym which is also located in the basement of the hotel, just right beside the swimming pool and Jacuzzi area.~

Day 6

This is a humongous bell right? It's a tradition to ring this bell on Chinese Lunar New Year. If you guys have watched the news, they actually showed a clip of two men ringing the bell on CNY.

At the train station.~

Our train tickets!

We were travelling from Beijing to Tianjin by this fast speed Maglev train. The train ride was not bumpy at all and we reached Tianjin in 1 hours' time.

That's the speed of the train.~

In Tianjin, we got out of the train station and walked to this place called the 'Italian Style Town'. The place was fantastic, the buildings were really pretty and when we you walked down the street, it felt as if you were in Italy.

Went for some shopping before having lunch in one of the restaurants.~

This was our last stop in Tianjin, we went for shopping!

The place was super crowded.

After that, from Tianjin, we travelled straight to Chengde by bus.~ It was a really long bus ride, took about 5 hours to reach there.

First meal at Chengde! Dinner time.~

This was the 4-star hotel that we stayed in Chengde. It wasn't as grand as the Sheraton hotel in Beijing.

Day 7

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that in Chengde, it was super cold. Very much colder than Beijing/Tianjin. Beijing's weather ranges from about -1 to -8 degree celcius while Chengde's weather ranges from -12 to -16 degree celcius. We were lucky because we only stayed in Chengde for one day and the temperature was at -14 degree celcius. One day ago, it was -16 degree celcius. Thank god, it's as if the country is turning into a human refrigerator!!

Breakfast! The fried rice was really yummy.~

Our hotel in Chengde.

Because the temperature was so low in Chengde, the whole river has entirely frozen into thick ice. So many of the neitizens there grabbed the opportunity to ice-skate for free. HAHA.

This was a really special lake that would not turn to ice on cold temperature. It's natural, not man-made or anything.

Trying to have a feel of whether the water was warm or cold. It was under room temperature.

Gathering some warmth for my fingers.

The puppy looked really frail. :(

Last meal at Chengde.

After lunch, we left Chengde and headed back to Beijing. This time the bus ride was not really long because the distance between Chengde and Beijing was closer as compared to the distance between Chengde and Tianjin.

Back in Beijing, we went to a jewellery store.

GIANT CANDY FLOSS! It's bigger than the size of my head!

Just in case you're wondering, I didn't finish the whole candy floss on my own. I shared it with my mom and sista.~

Went to see a Kungfu Panda performance. It was really captivating!

Day 8

Our next destination. This place is some sort of art gallery where there are many art works around like statues, paintings, etc.

Imitating a statue. HAHA.

The dog looks so smart! And cute with it's 2 pair of shoes!!

Our last shopping place before we head to the airport...

Airport.~

Day 9
By the time we reached Singapore, it was 10AM in the morning, 14 January. We were really tired from the long journey by plane but once we took the cab home, we had to pack our luggage for the Genting trip. It was a long family vacation indeed.

So, after reading these 2 blog posts on my Beijing trip, did it dawn on you that there were many pictures of food? Yep, I also uploaded these pictures on Facebook already and one of my friend actually told me about the numerous pictures of food. He said that they looked really tasty and sumptuous, making him have the thought of going Beijing right there and then just to gobble up the food. I should say, not all the dishes are delicious, most of them are but a few are not up to expectation. It was my first time consuming such large amount of food that I literally gained 1kg every night!! It was a memorable trip and we're planning to travel to Taiwan this coming June holiday. I really love to travel, you can really relax your mind and soul. All you have to do is just eat, play, sleep, take pictures and do shopping. We can also learn about the different cultures of other countries and taste different types of food. It is a learning journey where you can never experience in class.

Before we decided to go to Beijing, I actually suggested that we travel to Korea again. I was so eager to go there and I think I will never be sick of that country!! However, my parents claimed that because we went to Korea just 2 years ago, we still have vivid memories on the trip so it was kinda pointless so they said that we'll go to Korea in another two years' time.

I still have a lot of countries in mind that I wish to travel to! Namely, Taiwan, Paris, France, USA, Germany, Italy, Sydney and Melbourne!

******

I'll be updating on Chinese Lunar New Year soon as well before I start work. I apologise for all the late updates, had been busy so I abandoned my blog for quite some time. I am aware that it is collecting some dust already so I'd better create more posts.~

One more thing, I'm heading out for a gathering tomorrow! I am so happy because I can finally see my ex-colleagues from Takashimaya again. It has been so long since I last saw them and I've missed them already! Tomorrow will definitely be an enjoyable day.~
Note-to-self: Take a lot of pictures together!
