Life as an intern
4 weeks of internship has passed already! It'll be the 5th week tomorrow and that leaves me with another 5 weeks to the end of internship. Should I be happy or sad? I don't really know it myself either.
I wanna enjoy my time while I'm still in Singapore (tentatively flying off on the last day of August which is not far from the last day of internship) so as always, I've been utilising my time even though I'm already busy and tired from internship — ending at 5.30pm (weekdays) & 1pm (Saturday) plus travelling time and having to work/think as an intern.
And so... What have I been up to recently? Amidst internship, I have been picking up my favourite hobby back which is café-hopping! Finally I am able to cross out more cafés from the long list of cafés that I've been wanting to go (which had gotten longer over time because I haven't been visiting cafés).
Here are some of the cafés that I've visited so far:-
L'etoile Café

Satisfied my cravings for poached eggs alas but it wasn't that good because they added lemon sauce to the eggs. It tasted so weird I thought the eggs have gone bad/rotten, only to know about the sauce after inquiring the waiter.
Ordered a cup of Mocha too and it tasted pretty good. Although the 3D foam was cool, the overall coffee art was disappointing. I couldn't figure out if it was some tortoise or dinosaur.
Wimbly Lu Chocolates
Here for the second time because the first time I was here, it was daylight and I didn't manage to enjoy the beautiful lights. So this time I did, I quite like the ambience and took it all in.
However, I don't think I'll make a 3rd trip here because there wasn't a lot to choose from and most of the desserts were disappointing. After going there twice, only the waffles and molten lava cake were good, everything else was just average. The marshmallow tart (as seen in the picture) was utterly horrible, it has a really dry texture plus the tart was too hard and unappetising. Meh.
English breakfast tea
Working Title
The food we ordered were satisfactory but I would really wanna go there again to try their main dishes. As for their ice cream sandwich, I've tried better ones, their ice cream was too icy.
Cake Love
Dessert was bad. Period.
If I were to describe further, the tart was very dry and tasteless, bananas didn't taste like bananas, neither did the chocolate. The yogurt filling didn't go well with everything else too.
La Marelle Café & Boutique
Whimsical, bright and colourful ambience they have there!
But I feel like the food isn't worth the price. One plate costs $18.90 excluding GST.
I also went to the Coffee Shot, but apparently I didn't take any pictures. I had Eggs Benedict but it looked and tasted nothing like poached eggs. The moment the plate was set on the table, I stared at it in dismay. It was exactly like 3/4-boiled eggs... The salmon pizza was unique though!

I have been really sick this time round. I've been falling ill, coughing really badly in May.
And then after recovering, I started coughing again in June.
It didn't stop but got worse which is this current period, in July...
I had flu, cough, blocked ears, blocked nose. And so last Monday 30 June, I decided to visit the doctor (which is rare because I usually don't). According to the doctor, it was most probably due to the environment at my internship workplace, where the area is ulu and dirty. This also caused the virus to escalate.
After my 2 days MC, I returned to work only to feel feverish, aches in my body and a heavy head (headache) on Thursday. I endured a day of work with a temperature of 38.2 degree Celsius and collapsed in bed the minute I got home. I was so thankful my dad was there to fetch me home that day.
The next day (Friday), I was contemplating on whether to go to work or not because I was still feeling very unwell but I didn't want to take so many days of MC, worse still, it was on the same week. However, after being given many advices from everyone, I went ahead to pay the doctor a second visit. I was walking like a tortoise while on my way to the clinic because I was aching EVERYWHERE and my head was pounding so hard, it was a piercing pain at the side of my head.
It got pretty bad, yep. I had upper respiratory tract infection (with productive cough, rhinitis, blocked nose and fever). I had to take a blood test which showed that my white cell count was raised. — quoted from the doctor herself
So after consulting the doctor twice in a week, with 4 days MC, I am still in the midst of recovering...
And I have to take so many meds (including antibiotics) ugh. I am still reporting to work tomorrow so wish me good luck that my sickness wouldn't act up too badly. I pray and hope the headache won't come. I guess blocked ears are still bearable since I've had it for quite some time, I'm kinda used to it. I really hate the flu and cough and I hope they all go away SOON. PLS.
Okay, goodnight everyone, thanks for reading!
