My second week in Heidelberg

Interested in affordable trips to Germany? Check out some of these travel tips/packages!

8 September 2014 (Day 7) - Visit to the Heidelberg Castle ONCE AGAIN (with a tour guide)

Visited the most popular attraction in Heidelberg once more (third time) but this time with a guided tour. We were entitled to walk into the castle and look into the rooms/halls. It was quite an eye opener.

Oh and this time, there was no need for me to climb the castle anymore YAY. I can go up the castle with ease, thanks to the cable car/train.

The entire structure of the castle (miniature size).

The dance/grand hall.

The huge wine barrel.

The breathtaking view once again.

10 September 2014 (Day 9) - Visit to Heiligenberg (hill)

Went hiking for 30 minutes my goodness. It was a good exercise but I was in the wrong shoes (wearing my boots) so it was hard to maintain my balance while hiking up.

Food up there @ Waldschenke was so bad and pricey - 6.90 Euros for a simple salad. I don't even know why I was paying so much for such bad food...... but oh well the company was what kept me throughout the entire meal in the cold (we were eating outdoors on top of the hill).

The old Amphitheatre built during the Hitler period, meant for speeches. It was huge!

We climbed up some more (long flight of stairs right there plus more hiking) to get a bird's eye view of the town.

Climbed up this tower-like thingy too.

It was a little hazy and foggy when we were up there but it was still a good view.

Below is the view that we saw when we went up this tower.

Zoomed-in view.

Going down the hill was even more tiring then heading up because it was so steep omg. I had to really keep my balance well in order to prevent myself from falling.

The view gets better as we go down the hill.

When we returned back to the inner city, we treated ourselves to some ice cream @ Schmelzpunkt Schokolade & Eiskrem, whoop whoop. It's my 3rd ice cream cone already!

Passers-by staring at me while I was taking some ice cream selfies HAHA. Selfie don't care.

11 September 2014 (Day 10) - Lunch @ pizza im carre

Tried the Bolognese pizza! It's a Turkish restaurant and wow I was amazed how pizza can be bolognese flavoured haha. I'm satisfied by my choice of pizza because it was a special one (eggs as toppings). FYI, there are a lot of Turkish and Italian food here because many of the people there moved in here to set up restaurants so I'm having Italian&Turkish food most of the time.

hey hey, achievement unlocked! Found the other Oreo ice cream sticks this time. So I actually managed to find both the ice cream sandwich and ice cream sticks over here, not bad at all eh?

Good day too because I came across a huge supermarket in this town! And I finally found bubblegums and immediately grabbed some. Found some really cheap blueberries there too. I'm a happy girl!

12 September 2014 (Day 11) - TGIF

Found a pretty café while searching for a restaurant.

Had curry chicken and some crispy papadum @ Punjab Curry! Their curry was good (yummy), it feels good to have some Asian food after a week plus heh. I'm kinda missing some of the food back in Singapore like bubble tea, noodles, hot soup, especially so when I scroll through my Instagram feed, my goodness. But I like the food here too! So I'm gonna enjoy all the food I can have here in Europe first before attacking Singapore's local food.

Friday night out spent walking the streets and checking out pubs. The pubs here are slightly different from those in Singapore. Culture differences make the pubs here in Germany pretty interesting!

13 & 14 September 2014 (Day 12 & 13) - Simple Weekends
The day passed by quickly because I slept in so I had lunch right after I woke up. Headed out later on, just strolled around the town, went to 2 cafés to chill while taking in the ambience and surroundings in Heidelberg. It was a chill Saturday indeed. Before heading back to the apartment, we went grocery shopping to prepare meals for the next day.

TODAY:
Shops here are closed every Sunday, that means every Sunday is stay-home day for us. This is why I am taking the time to write my blog right now :-)

What I have done so far today - had my lunch, skyped/facetime-d and blogged while singing some oldies hAhAHA. And I shall watch some movies and variety shows after I publish this post.

I'll be moving out of my beautiful apartment in Heidelberg to Mosbach in a weeks' time. I will miss this place a bit especially my cozy room and my friendly neighbours. At the same time, I can't wait to move into Mosbach and am also feeling pretty pumped up for what's coming up during the next weekend! Stay tuned if you wanna know more, see ya! xx
