Hello to the CNOS (4) family!
So...... Last Saturday, I headed off to Shokudu at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard Level 2 to attend the official launch of Cineleisure's Next Online Sensation (CNOS) 4! After registration, I got to meet the other shortlisted candidates and made new friends. They were all very lovely people :-)
We were briefed about the competition and other miscellaneous stuff.
It was my first time dining at Shokudu and I had some really yummy Japanese cum Western cuisine dishes, courtesy of Shokudu! Thank you!!
Pizza's crust was thin & crisp. The flavoured Japanese seasoning seaweeds and mushrooms gave the pizza a very unique taste! It also has this garlic flavour where the spices weren't too overwhelming.
Loving the cream pasta because it's my favourite type of pasta. And I was actually really excited to dig into the egg benedict that sat on top of the spaghetti!
The details of the FIRST CHALLENGE were also announced to us. We were randomly assigned into groups of 4 and without further ado, my team started the ball rolling on the challenge the next day!
CHALLENGE 1
Each of the 4 contestants in the group is to dress up as the characters in Cathay's 80th anniversary commemorative movie, Our Sister Mambo. One of us have to pick the hashtag personalities of the characters in Sister Mambo:
#oldschoollikekaya
#hotlikesambalbelacan
#kaypohlikeanauntie
#manjalikeababy
Task: Instagram the final #ootd look portraying the 4 hashtags!
My team (Team Kiasu) worked on shopping for our OOTDs at Cine! We filmed the process and experience down. (note: SNIPPETS of the many videos recorded will be shown here.)
It was a different shopping experience for me because most of the time, I'll have my retail therapy done with my mom. But this time, I am doing it with friends I just met the day before! Being the organised group, we listed down the things that we would need to search for, to complete the different looks. Of course, we already had an idea of what to wear. However, we were still open to choices if we chanced upon something that will make the OOTD look better!
1ST STOP: BEADSTREET
For me, I needed to buy accessories to boost my outfit. And it was so nice to be able to receive opinions from my group mates, like which accessories would look better or suit the outfit better. 2 opinions are always better than 1!
So I got the big round specs (in my left hand) as part of my outfit. ;-)
2ND STOP: EDITOR'S MARKET
Like I said before, even though most of us decided to grab something from our own wardrobe, us, 3 girls still went ahead to shop for clothes that will match according to the personality we chose.
And in I went into the fitting rooms, to try out the clothes I picked! Trying out clothes helps to give me a clearer vision of whether I should purchase it!
As such, Shayne found something better to pair with her floral auntie top, where she exited the store with a baggy 3/4 pants! It went so well with her #kaypohlikeauntie OOTD. (final picture of my group's OOTD at the end of the post)
As a group we all had a part to play, as well as to lend each other a helping hand. I had a lot of fun helping out with the filming even though I didn't intend to video my experience down (which was why this blog post is here – I just love writing, you see!). It was nice to do something I had a fair bit of passion for – photography/videography. I'm glad that the style hunting for our OOTDs gave me an opportunity to play with the camera & functions!
3RD STOP: FLESH IMP
AAAAND now it's time for the guy to do his shopping! Justin was looking to purchase a top but had no clue on what would fit best. We provided suggestions on how his outfit should turn out to be (as well as each other's outfits, in that case for all of us too so YAY TEAM WORK) and helped him to pick the best looking top after having tried several pieces.
Inevitably, my group and I had a lot of JOY and laughter hunting for clothes and accessories. At the same time, we also got to know each other better on the way!
This is one happy girl right here, after receiving some love and help from her friend/group mate on putting on the headband! Why do you need a mirror when you have friends to help you instead? Team effort right there, I'm so proud of my group. <3 p="">

AND TADA, this is the final OOTDs of Team Kiasu!
Can you figure out who is portraying which hashtag personality???
From left to right:
Shayne – #kaypohlikeauntie
ME – #oldschoollikekaya
Carine – #manjalikeababy
Justin – #hotlikesambalbelacan
As for my FINAL OOTD of #oldschoollikekaya, I decided to go for a simple outfit because it's old school afterall! So definitely, nothing too fancy.
CLOTHES: Paired a basic top along with my dungaree/pinafore shorts. I decided to go with the dungaree because I feel that the pinafore shorts are very old school and decent. It gives this old-fashioned vibe / 80s look which was then brought back into trend a few years back.
SHOES: Had them sneakers (high-cut) on because it is the kind of shoe that first comes into mind for old school. Pretty straight-forward hehe.
ACCESSORIES: cute headband is a must, to keep the hair in place! HUGE, round specs just like how the oldies wore them. And lastly, a leather watch.
HAIRSTYLE: double ponytail on each side because it is so rare to find people wearing this hairstyle in modern days. SO outdated already, therefore hair up!
NOW WHO'S READY TO GO OLD-SCHOOL?
Maybe I should skip instead of walk hahahahaha (which kinda explains the pose)!
Thanks for reading!
