Korean Fashion

"What should I wear today?" A girl's first issue right in the beginning of the day but first I would like to talk about...

KPOP!
This is the first thing that comes into the minds of the people in Gen Y whenever this country is mentioned. However Korea is not all about Kpop!

I am an exception. Having been to South Korea (and Jeju Island) 4 years ago, I was able to appreciate the delicacies of spicy food and chewy meat wrapped in lettuce. Of course, not forgetting the Kimchi too! Living in Singapore is pretty fortunate, for we have a WIDE variety of cuisines to choose from. So even back in Singapore, I still look forward to having Korean cuisine like Korean BBQ, beef soup stew, Kimchi Ramen, Tteokbboki (rice cakes), Bibimpap and more!

One of my favourite traditional dishes would be the Ginseng chicken soup! I'm sure the first thought that came to mind when you saw the word 'Ginseng' was like 'she's gotta be kidding me'. But yep, I've never like Ginseng but wow the Korean Ginseng Chicken soup is on an entirely different level. MUST HAVE!

Other than these traditional dishes, we can never forget Korea's street food! My all-time favourite is Odeng Guk (fish cake soup). I can still vividly remember that awesome first bite of Odeng that I took while we stopped over for a break during a long bus ride. During that season, it was winter and the warm tasty soup was made just RIGHT for the weather. That warm and fuzzy feeling I got when the soup travelled down the oseophagus into my stomach was just satisfying!! The texture of the fish cakes were really chewy and you must know that I am a huge fan of chewy food! Of course, first impression counts and the shape of the fish cakes were really unique, and that was what caught my eye before I made a choice to order Odeng Guk at the street food stall.

Let me just share with you where I usually get my favourite Odeng Guk in Singapore! (just for sharing purposes, not an advertorial). It is a Korean snack stall located in Takashimaya Basement 2, just beside the food court. It is really authentic Korean food! They even have a huge selection of Korean side dishes to takeaway and have at home. Just cook rice and pair your already purchased side dishes with it and your meal is settled! Personally, I have tried a few of the side dishes and they are definitely worth the try. My regular food selection there would be the Odeng Guk and Tteokbboki! Awesome taste and reasonable prices :-) (JFYI: that's what my mom and I usually order everytime we have no idea what to eat in town and end up taking away Korean 'finger food' there HAHA)

NOW, not just all about food, I also like Korea for it's fashion and clothing! In my opinion, I think that in Asia, Korea is one of the top fashionable countries. So here are some of my outfits I perceive are Korean fashion-like!

For this outfit, the cardigan is the highlight of the outfit. It's speckle-like details and uneven neutral tone make this outerwear special. Although it's not visible, there are also tiny glitters!

The hook on the top of the cardigan makes the look very demure. As for the black 'borders' along this piece accentuates the demure look!

Leggings are a definite yes to Korean fashion, paired with a maroon knitted sweater and bandage skirt. Not forgetting a sling handbag!

I'm starting to believe that cardigans are part of the Korean fashion too... This outfit's paired with boots!

My outfits may not be the best in describing Korean fashion but I hope you liked it anyway! Thank you for reading :-*
