Fashion disaster?
Hello there! Today, I'm writing this post after recently watching the obnoxious "fashion police" video where Saffron Sharpe was filmed pacing the streets of Orchard Road, insulting passerbys' clothes.
Despite the horrible comments made by the fashion influencer, Sharpe, she did give a valid point about simply pairing your loud statement pieces (or rather 'fancy' outerwear) with the basics! I find this very true as this will help you to dress up in style without having to worry about being overdressed or underdressed.
I have lined up some of my previous OOTDs to help give you some inspirations on what to wear for the coming week :-)
Take for example, this outfit that I've put together – white laced top + black leather pants + tribal patterned cardigan + boots. The cardigan helps to accentuate the entire look instead of looking dull with just a white and black outfit. My friend also once told me that boots always help to spice up your outfit, so why not?!
Skorts have recently been the in thing! However, I'm not a very big fan of skorts because it makes me feel uncomfortable wearing it... I do have a piece of jumper shorts that I really like. This piece right here has laced sleeves and a very smooth and touchable material – plus point because just put on one set of clothes and you're good to go! Simply touch it up with a few accessories if you're not feeling too lazy, voilà, looking fabulous!
And, ah, DENIM! You can never go wrong with this choice! Matches with almost everything you can find. In here, I paired my white lacy dress with a denim outerwear and a pair of leather strapped sandals.
I used to think that I can't match a flared top with another flared bottom but decided to try the look out anyways & it was actually pretty decent! One thing to note is probably not to wear a flared shirt that is too long. For this outfit, the top is about just above hips length.
Missing Taiwan... ELEPHANT PANTS from BKK, if you don't have one, you are missing out on life!! These pants are the most comfortable things on earth. It can look stuffy but the material is actually really airy! The patterns on the elephant pants can make it slightly more challenging to match outfits with, so your solution is to go for the basics. Here, I have paired mine with a bralet!
I think you should know about now that I am pretty much obsessed with laced tops, especially white ones. I own quite a few pieces because I love the details and even though they're categorised as 'laced', they will NEVER look the same! For this outfit, I have paired my white lacy top with a denim buttoned up skirt. There are many other variations of this skirt in boutiques, like the brown leather ones, etc.! I'd love to check them out someday.
