Glow

Summer is over and it's back to school, oh god...
Looks like it's back to reality and I'm not sure about you but the stress is real?! Currently in Sophomore Year a.k.a. Year 2 right now, and the semester kinda started off a little rough but all is good now as of yesterday!

Missing the first 2 weeks of August when I was stress-free and I'm just busy scheduling my days with outings, shopping and non-stop eating.

On National Day (9 Aug), I reunited with my group of blogger friends and headed off to have some café food @ The Refinery. The Refinery is a café, bar and restaurant altogether that serves Western-style Japanese food. They have a very interesting mix of food options however it is pretty pricey, the range is from $20 - 30.

I love the high ceilings as it makes me feel more cosy dining in the café. The annoying setting of the place was that the space was narrow and you would have to squeeze between chairs and tables.

Ordered this cup of Hazelnut Expresso Ice Ball. The first time I've had an expresso ice ball was last year in Roast @ BKK. It is a very interesting way of drinking coffee – pouring warm milk onto the ice ball. The flavours and your coffee will be all ready to consume once the ice ball melts! Not the best coffee and I wished they had warmer milk. It was a bit weird when my coffee wasn't exactly hot nor cold. It seemed like room temperature where my hot coffee lasted too long out and cooled down...

Seaweed Truffle Fries really isn't as fantastic as it looks as the seaweed flavour was too overwhelming and I almost felt like I was having McDonald's seaweed shaker fries. The taste of truffle was almost missing in this side dish, very disappointing.

These Salted Egg Yolk Onion Rings were pretty good but what was lacking was that the onion rings were a little too salty. I liked this so much better than the seaweed truffle fries. And yes, they gave a separate dip of salted egg yolk!

This Lobster Roll Bun was the bomb!! The lobsters tasted fabulous and were fresh. I was a little disturbed by the bread though, because the white bread was very hard on the inside and not exactly crisp on the outside. I'd wished they baked the bread better!

This Beef Bowl was perfection – the sauce suited my taste bud well and I really love how the beef was not too hard. The mushrooms also blended in very well with the beef. The egg wasn't very runny though but 9/10 for this dish!

After lunch, we took a Grab and explored some obscure places for a mini photoshoot!

I love how this place is very breezy in the humid temperature, and hearing the sound of waves is simply pure tranquility. It is very calm especially when there is not many people or traffic flow around.

Amongst school, classes and the hectic workload, I am really missing such an atmosphere and wishing I am there right now instead of being in class.

In the blink of an eye, once again, another month is coming to a close and we are already in the last week of August?! I can't wait for September to come because exciting things are coming my way. Really looking forward!!!

Meanwhile, do stay tuned for my next post on my new hairdo, cheers! :-)
